Howdy!
I am an applied anthropologist who focuses on reproductive health and justice.
Here is where my work is currently centered.
Past Projects
Cesarean Birth in Mexico
In service of my Master’s degree, I joined an investigation of rising cesarean rates in a Yucatec Maya community. My research linked reproductive biology, access to medical care, workload burdens in rural Mexican hospitals, and the experiences of Yucatec Maya women navigating these systems. This work is part of an ongoing collaboration between Purdue University and University of Utah on Maya maternal child health.
Americorps Vista
At Easterseals Blake Foundation, I served the Child and Family Services department and provided direct assistance to Human Resources, Grants and Development, and Outreach.
I also served as Volunteer Coordinator at Casa Alitas, a short-term shelter for migrant families in southern Arizona where I coordinated over 200 volunteers and collaborated with organizations on both sides of the border.
Bio/archaeology
In the past decade, I have collaborated with multiple archaeological projects in the US, abroad, and in Mexico. In 2015, I was recruited by INAH Sonora as a bioarchaoelogist, where I excavated, curated, analyzed, and catalogued archaeological materials and human remains.
